Setting aside conventional labels like light or dark, Methodical roasts each coffee to express the life it lived, including the weather, the soil, and the place it grew. This floral and tropical Red Catuai from La Guaca is a perfect example of that philosophy.
La Guaca was honey-processed by Régulo Ureña and Isabel Rojas at their world-renowned family-run micro-mill in the Chirripó region. Honey processing is a specialty in the region, striking a measured balance that we love– more mellow than a straight-up natural but incredibly flavorful. La Guaca is named after nearby indigenous ceremonial sites marked by natural monuments.

This coffee has a really pleasant floral aroma that opens up as it cools, and the tropical notes come through without being overpowering. I've been brewing it as a pour-over and getting a clean, smooth cup every time.

The floral notes hit right away, but what surprised me most was how the tropical fruit sweetness lingered into the finish without any bitterness. Makes a fantastic iced pour-over on a warm afternoon.

Brewed my first cup this morning and the acidity is so bright and clean, like biting into a fresh strawberry. The tropical fruit sweetness lingers nicely even as the cup cools, which is rare for me to notice. Definitely my new go-to for a bright, lively morning coffee.

The floral notes are incredibly aromatic as you grind the beans, and the brew has a tropical sweetness that lingers pleasantly. This is one of the most unique and delicious light roasts I've had, really capturing the character of the origin.

Brewed a cup this morning and it’s got this bright, almost tropical sweetness that made me forget my usual milk habit. The ground beans have a wonderful, fragrant smell even before brewing.

The floral notes really come through in the first sip, almost like jasmine tea. I brewed it in my Chemex and it smelled like a garden.

The first sip was like biting into a juicy tropical fruit—so bright and floral. I’ve been brewing it with my V60 and the sweetness comes through perfectly without any bitterness.

I was hoping for a brighter cup based on the floral description, but the tropical notes come through nicely once it cools down a bit. It's good, just not as punchy as I expected for the price.

I was hoping for more of that tropical fruit flavor the description promises, but it comes through as more of a mild floral tea instead. Still, it’s a perfectly drinkable light roast if you want something gentle for the afternoon.
