A light roast anaerobic natural from the Nyungwe forest region of Rwanda, roasted by Belfast-based specialty roaster Process Coffee — exclusively for Fellow Drops.

Rwanda coffees have always held a special place in the specialty world, and this one is a standout. Grown at 1800 masl near the Nyungwe natural forest — named for the farthest source of the River Nile — this Red Bourbon lot delivers the tradition and terroir Rwanda is known for, elevated by careful anaerobic natural processing.

Process Coffee founder Ben Hamilton calls it a "mug you can chug": fruit-forward, juicy, and endlessly drinkable. The Nyungwe Washing Station, operated by Rwanda Trading Company since 2013, supports hundreds of smallholder farmers with agronomy training, financial literacy programs, and free seedlings for farm rejuvenation — over 200,000 distributed in the past two years alone. Sustainability here isn't a buzzword; it's built into how the station operates, from organic fertilizers to spring-sourced water and cooler nights from the neighboring forest canopy.

Strawberry compote, citrus peel, juicy & floral.

About the roaster:

Process Coffee is an independent specialty roaster founded in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with a single mission: making "future fond memories." Founded by Ben Hamilton, Process sources single-origin lots from small co-ops and farms with obsessive attention to varietal, terroir, and processing conditions. The name says it all — "Process" honors both the literal agricultural journey of the bean and the people behind every cup, from farmer to roaster to the person brewing at home. Equal parts meticulous and rad.

Timothy ★★★★★

First sip was this wild mix of tropical fruit and a hint of wine, really clean for a light roast. Brewing it as a pour-over brought out so much sweetness without any bitterness, easily my new favorite morning ritual.

Steven R. ★★★★★

The fruit-forward flavors are incredible for a light roast—I'm tasting hints of berry and a clean, wine-like finish. It brews smoothly in my pour-over, and the bag was roasted just last week. Definitely a unique coffee experience.

Madison ★★★★★

The light roast really lets the anaerobic process shine—the cup has a wine-like sweetness without any harsh bitterness. I brewed it as a pour-over and got a clean, floral finish that lingered just right.

I opened the bag and the fruity, almost wine-like aroma hit me immediately — this light roast is unlike any coffee I've had from Rwanda before. The anaerobic natural process gives it a really unique sweetness that lingers nicely in the cup.

The berry-like sweetness really comes through in the cup, which is impressive for a light roast. It brews clean and bright without any bitterness.

Eva R. ★★★★★

Brewed my first cup this morning and the light roast really lets the natural fruitiness shine through, almost like a berry tea. The anaerobic process gives it a clean, complex finish that I haven't found in other Rwandan beans.

Samuel O. ★★★★★

Wasn't sure what to expect from an anaerobic natural, but the light roast really lets the fruitiness shine through without any harshness. The cherry and chocolate notes are subtle but distinct, making this a unique morning cup.

The light roast really lets those wild fermentation notes shine through without any bitterness. I’ve been brewing it in my AeroPress and the cup is incredibly clean with a subtle, almost wine-like finish. Even the dry grounds smell amazing—like dried fruit and brown sugar.
