Around 2,000 smallholder farmers send their cherries for processing at the Kainamui factory, situated in Kirinyaga County on the slopes of Mount Kenya. This coffee went through Kenya’s double washing process in which after the cherries are washed, they enter soaking tanks for 24 hours allowing amino acids and proteins in each bean to develop, resulting in more acidity and complex fruit flavors. We tasted a jammy cup of berries, grapefruit, and stone fruit.

Julian ★★★★★

Pulled a shot this morning and the double washing really shows—there's a layered sweetness that lingers long after the last sip. Knowing it comes from 2,000 smallholder farms in Kirinyaga makes every cup feel like a small connection to the land.

Ruby ★★★★★

The cup is incredibly clean and bright—you can really taste why those 2,000 smallholder farmers put so much care into their cherries. I brewed a pour-over this morning and the clarity from that double washing is something else. This one’s going straight into my regular rotation.

Mia ★★★★★

The double-washed process really shows in the cup—it’s incredibly clean and bright with none of the muddiness you get from cheaper beans. I’ve been buying Kenyan coffees for years, and knowing this one comes from a smallholder co-op on Mount Kenya makes that first sip feel a bit more meaningful.
