Category: Coffee

A rich, full-bodied Caturra from Villa Maria farm in San Agustín, Colombia, processed with meticulous attention at every step and roasted medium-light by ilse coffee.

The Ortega-Gomez family has been growing coffee in San Agustín for over sixty years. The family also helped to found Monkaaba, a producer-led collective built to give smallholder farmers in the region the market access, knowledge, and support.

This lot is a separation of Caturra harvested in August 2025. Cherries are picked at peak ripeness every three weeks, floated, then fermented in open tanks before being depulped, dry-fermented, rinsed, and dried on raised beds for 20 to 25 days. The result is rich and comforting,  a crowd pleaser that performs equally well as filter or espresso.

Plum. Raisin. Dark chocolate.

Isabella ★★★★★

I was skeptical about light roasts for espresso, but this Caturra pulls a beautiful, thick crema with bright acidity that cuts through milk. The stone fruit notes are incredibly distinct. Definitely my new go-to for morning lattes.

Ava M. ★★★★★

I was a bit skeptical about light roasts, but this Colombian Caturra blew me away with its velvety body and clean finish. The chocolatey notes lingered long after my last sip, making it an easy daily driver.

Riley ★★★★★

I was blown away by how clean and bright this coffee is—the citrus notes really come through in the first sip. It’s smooth enough to drink black, which is rare for me. Definitely ordering another bag soon.

Edward ★★★★☆

I’ve been brewing this as a pour-over, and the body is noticeably silky without being heavy—perfect for morning sipping. Only wish the bag had a resealable zipper, because the simple fold-over strip doesn’t keep it fresh as long.

Grace A. ★★★★☆

The floral aroma when I opened the bag really surprised me—it's not something you get from most Colombian beans. Brewed as a pour-over, the cup has this bright acidity that mellows into a sweet, almost honey-like finish. My only small gripe is that I wish it had just a touch more body for my taste.

Eva ★★★★☆

First brew of this Caturra hit my palate with a really pleasant, wine-like fruitiness that carried through the finish. The medium-light roast keeps it crisp without any bitterness, though I wish the bag had a one-way valve for freshness.
