Gekkou, wat 'maanlicht' betekent, is een schaduwgekweekte matcha met zachte, blauwgroene tencha-bladeren. Het wordt geproduceerd door de familie Nishide, waar drie generaties zij aan zij werken, en langzaam met de steenmolen in eigen huis gemalen. Het resultaat is een gladde, zijdezachte matcha met tonen van chawanmushi (hartige eierpudding), amandelkoekje en hazelnootpraliné.
