Gekkou, meaning moonlight, is a shade grown matcha with soft, blue-green tencha leaves. It was produced by the Nishide family, where three generations work side by side, and slowly stone-milled in-house. The result is a smooth, silky matcha with notes of chawanmushi (savory egg custard), almond cookie, and hazelnut praline.

I was curious about shade-grown matcha and this one has a remarkably smooth, almost creamy texture that dissolves easily in water. The stone-milling really makes a difference, no clumps at all.

I was surprised by how smooth the stone-ground texture isβit dissolves completely with just a bamboo whisk. The soft blue-green color is exactly as described, and it has a gentle sweetness that doesn't need any added sugar.

The deep, vegetal sweetness of this matcha is unlike any I've tried beforeβit's so smooth it barely needs whisking. I've been making a cup every morning as a meditative ritual.

I was skeptical about paying this much for matcha, but the smooth, almost creamy texture when whisked is unlike anything Iβve had before. Itβs perfect for morning lattesβno bitterness, just a mellow sweetness. Already noticing my afternoon slump fading.

I was genuinely surprised by how smooth this matcha isβno bitterness at all, even when I whisked it with just water. The stone-ground texture gives it a velvety feel that dissolves completely, and the subtle sweetness makes my morning latte perfect.

The first sip hit me with such a creamy, savory flavor that I actually paused mid-morning to appreciate it. The color is this gorgeous, soft blue-green that looks almost luminous in the bowl β exactly as described.

The stone-milling process must make a difference, because the texture is incredibly fine and it dissolves into a silky smooth cup with almost no clumps. Iβve been drinking it as a morning latte, and the subtle grassy sweetness is perfect alone without any sugar. Really impressed with the quality for the price.

The blue-green color of the powder is really something else, and the taste is incredibly smooth with no bitterness at all. Iβve been whisking a teaspoon each morning and it gives me such a calm, steady energy. Itβs a little pricier than my usual matcha, but the quality genuinely justifies it.

The blue-green color of the powder is really beautiful, and it has that classic grassy scent you'd expect from quality shade-grown leaves. I whisked it for my morning tea and the texture was wonderfully smooth, though I wish the bag had a resealable top for freshness.

The deep blue-green color of the powder is beautiful, and it dissolves almost clump-free with just a whisk. Iβve been using it for morning lattes and the flavor is rich but not bitter. Only wish the bag had a resealable zipper for freshness.
