A light roast anaerobic natural from the Nyungwe forest region of Rwanda, roasted by Belfast-based specialty roaster Process Coffee — exclusively for Fellow Drops.

Rwanda coffees have always held a special place in the specialty world, and this one is a standout. Grown at 1800 masl near the Nyungwe natural forest — named for the farthest source of the River Nile — this Red Bourbon lot delivers the tradition and terroir Rwanda is known for, elevated by careful anaerobic natural processing.

Process Coffee founder Ben Hamilton calls it a "mug you can chug": fruit-forward, juicy, and endlessly drinkable. The Nyungwe Washing Station, operated by Rwanda Trading Company since 2013, supports hundreds of smallholder farmers with agronomy training, financial literacy programs, and free seedlings for farm rejuvenation — over 200,000 distributed in the past two years alone. Sustainability here isn't a buzzword; it's built into how the station operates, from organic fertilizers to spring-sourced water and cooler nights from the neighboring forest canopy.

Strawberry compote, citrus peel, juicy & floral.

About the roaster:

Process Coffee is an independent specialty roaster founded in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with a single mission: making "future fond memories." Founded by Ben Hamilton, Process sources single-origin lots from small co-ops and farms with obsessive attention to varietal, terroir, and processing conditions. The name says it all — "Process" honors both the literal agricultural journey of the bean and the people behind every cup, from farmer to roaster to the person brewing at home. Equal parts meticulous and rad.

Eva ★★★★★

I was skeptical about light roasts, but the apricot-like tang in this cup made me a convert. Brewing it as a pour-over brought out a silky sweetness that lingered nicely.

Joseph ★★★★★

The fruit-forward notes really shine through in a pour-over, almost like a berry tea. It’s delicate but not weak, which is rare for a light roast. Definitely picking up another bag next time.

Emma B. ★★★★★

Been using this for cold brew and the stone fruit sweetness comes through perfectly. The berry notes are surprisingly bright for such a light roast. I've already ordered another bag.

Jacob D. ★★★★★

Brewed this as a pour-over this morning and got a really bright, almost tropical fruit note that I’ve never tasted from a light roast before. It’s surprisingly smooth for an anaerobic — no harsh finish at all.

Zoe T. ★★★★★

The aroma right after grinding is intensely floral, like jasmine and honey. It brews a surprisingly clean cup with a delicate, tea-like body that I didn't expect from an anaerobic natural. Already ordered another bag.

Ava ★★★★★

The berry-like sweetness in this light roast is so vivid it almost tastes like fruit juice, but the finish is clean and tea-like. I’ve been brewing it as a pour-over and it’s the most complex cup I’ve had in months.
